Every language is another doorway

What words feel like home?

Help the garden speak.

A person should not have to leave their language behind to enter. Translation can open a door, but the person’s meaning must not disappear while the words change.

Three ways to read

Use browser translation

The pages use real text so a browser can translate them. This is useful for exploring, but important details may still need human review.

Make a local language file

Copy the translation starter, translate the values, and keep the keys unchanged. The file can stay on your own device.

Ask a person

For legal, medical, scientific, safety, faith, cultural, or deeply personal meaning, a trusted human translator should review the result.

How to add a language

  1. Open the translation starter.
  2. Choose the language and writing direction.
  3. Translate what the words mean, not only how they look.
  4. Keep “we do not know” when the source is uncertain.
  5. Say whether a person, a community, or a machine helped.
  6. Test the page with native speakers, keyboard navigation, and a screen reader.

Your translation file does not need to be uploaded here. It may stay local and private.

Meaning deserves care

Automatic translation can be wonderful for curiosity and connection. It can also flatten humor, culture, emotion, law, science, faith, and safety language. Important words should be checked by people who understand both the language and the context.
